Now we really wanted to know the sex of the baby. We wanted to be able to shop for clothes, for everything. And neutral stuff, to me personally, is just not fun enough. I really admire those who can wait 9 months to know what they are having.
So I was told about this blood test that was supposed to be very accurate in determining the baby’s gender as early as 8 weeks. Basically, by the 8th week there should be enough fetus blood in the mother’s blood stream to detect a Y chromosome in case of a boy. Consequently, the absence of such chromosome indicates a female fetus.
It was a bit expensive, but we went for it any way. It takes about 7 days to get the results back. I got the test done September 25th and by the 30th the result had been posted online.
With 97% accuracy, the result was that I was having a baby girl !!!
